Medicare Part C is also known as Medicare Advantage Plans,
Medicare Part C is not a separate benefit. People who participate in Part C are actually giving up Original Medicare and purchasing a health plan. These plans are offered through private health insurance companies. When you join a Medicare Advantage plan, the plan covers any of your services instead of Original Medicare. These plans must provide the same coverage as Original Medicare and they can offer extra benefits such as prescription drug plans, dental, vision, hearing and gym membership. You still have to enroll in Original Medicare. This means that you are still paying your Medicare Part B premium.
