CMS Announces Medicare Premium and Deductible for 2019

The Medicare part A (hospital) deductible has been increased by $24 from 2018 and is now $1,364. Co-Insurance and nursing stays for Medicare part A have also increased and are now $341 for service days 61-90 and $682 for lifetime reserve days.

Although most individuals retain Medicare part A at no cost, monthly premium for some can be as much as $437 a month.

The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries is $185 in 2019, an increase of $2 from the annual deductible $183 in 2018.  A beneficiary’s Part B monthly premium is based on his or her income. These income-related monthly adjustment amounts (IRMAA) affect roughly 5 percent of people with Medicare Part B.  For more information on IRMAA charges added to your premium, visit medicare.gov.
