Medigap (Medicare Supplement) Plan N.

What makes Medigap Plan N different from the rest?

Plan N does not cover Medicare part B excess charges, whereas the other more popular plans do. Although we don’t hear about excess charges often, it is legal for a facility filing a part B claim to do. An excess charge is when a doctor/facility will charge up to 15% above the Medicare approved amount. Ex: Dr. John bills Medicare for $1,000 and Medicare approves $100. Dr. John can charge 15% above the $100, so you would be responsible to pay $15 in this case.

Do I have out of pocket costs with Medigap Plan N?

Because plan N does not cover all Medicare services 100%, you will have some small out of pocket costs if enrolled with Medigap Plan N. You can expect to pay your Medicare Part B deductible, up to a $20 copay for each office visit, $50 copay for ER and potential excess charges. The great value of plan N is that the plan still covers 100% of the Medicare Part A deductible and coinsurance…for the “what if” situations. • Medicare Part A deductible • Medicare Part A coinsurance • Medicare Part B coinsurance • Home HealthCare • Skilled Nursing • Foreign Travel
